Players should be more careful about their off-the-field behaviour!
There’s been a lot of talk in the British press recently about how players should be more careful with their off-the-field behaviour. Andy Carroll of Newcastle United is one player in the news. He is on bail for assault and been accused of partying into the early hours with a team mate. But should he be given his first cap by England against France!? Well I think he should be judged on his -on-field-performances instead of giving the much older Kevin Davies.(Even though he’s a favourite of mine having played for my own team Chesterfield some years ago!) I don’t expect players to “live like monks” but accept they should be more careful off the field. This inspired the below cartoon….

Are You Ready For The World Cup?

Small Town Blackpool FC Get Promoted to Premier League!
Posted by: | CommentsBlackpool FC have won promotion to the Premier League!
Wow! What an upset, Blackpool overcame hot favourites Cardiff City 3-2 in the Championship Play-Off to win promotion to the Barclays Premier League. They twice came from behind at Wembley to edge the five-goal thriller to reach the top flight for the first time since 1971. The match was rated as the most valuable in world football worth a guaranteed £90m for the winners. And what was really amazing is that Blackpool became the first side to win promotion through all four divisions via the play-offs. Back in 2001 they were in the Football League’s bottom division. Nine years later a Blackpool team that started the season as relegation favourites were to upset the form books to win promotion after starting as underdogs. This just goes to prove that the underdog can overcome all obstacles and win through with guts, determination and a belief in themselves!!!

How FOGGY was it?
Posted by: | CommentsGoalie plays on alone in the fog… A goalkeeper played on for ten minutes unaware that his match had been abandoned because of thick fog. Richard Siddall, who couldn’t see beyond his penalty box, assumed all of the action was at the other end. He only realised when a fan told him the match between his side Stocksbridge Steels, near Sheffield, and Witton Albion had been called off after 30 minutes.

Richard told the Daily Star: “I didn’t have a clue. I just stood there waiting for a player to come through the mist.” His manager Wayne Biggins, a former Sheffield Wednesday player, said: “We were in the dressing rooms but Richard thought we were still playing. ”No-one had a clue where he was until it dawned on us that he must have still been on the pitch.
