Why not make soccer more popular in the USA?
Posted by: | CommentsUSA did well in the 2010 World Cup despite the game so unpopular on US soil. For the next four years, USA should expand the game similar as American football in every nook and cranny. Major League is played but more needs to be done to make the game of soccer more prevalent; premier leagues, championship cup and many more competitions. The exposure to the game of soccer will definitely enhance the players and motivations come next 4 years, and perhaps America reaches the final. What do you all think?
I am not sure about the final man . But your exactly right . But to do this is difficult cause you have American football die hard fans – Criticizing soccer!!! Look soccer has been around since the late 19 century . And USA is only beginning to absorb the game now. That’s because half of your population have grown up either hating it cause its not American its British origin the game . And you have America football . baseball . Basketball . Hockey . To compete with. I am from the UK and I can clearly say soccer is part of my culture! It has been since the turn of the century. My grand father has a collection of old black and white games . Amazing! Back in those days soccer was more attacking. Now its dropped a level or two : { . all I am saying is for USA to be successful in soccer . The sport must be your religion and I mean not just a portion of your population but all of it !!! At least !!

Brilliant Goalie!
Posted by: | CommentsAn avid reader recently sent me a request to do something on ‘goalies’ along with a very rough scribble which was redrawn…
And here are I few motivational quotes on goalkeepers…
Fighting terrorism is like being a goalkeeper. You can make a hundred brilliant saves but the only shot that people remember is the one that gets past you.
~ Paul Wilkinson
If you’re a goalkeeper, it doesn’t matter what you save the ball with – if you keep it out, it’s not a goal.
~ Mark Lawrenson
We took him out of the goal because he was begging to get on the field to score. He accomplished his mission, and so we put him back in goal to defend the lead because he is a good goalkeeper as well.
~ Kim Poole
You can count on the fingers of one hand the number of mistakes he’s made that have cost us goals. Over two and a half seasons for any manager to say that about his goalkeeper is exceptional. He’s been top quality.
~ Steve Coppell
We were excellent last week, we really were, but we were also very, very unlucky. Their goalkeeper got man of the match and I look on that as a compliment to my team.
~ John Gill
Remember, the goalie should be given loads of credit and encouragement, he’s the last line of defence. As a team mate you should protect him with your life!
